How to Remove the Air Vents, Dashboard Buttons, and Light Switch

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003

This operation takes just a few moments, a bit of attention, and a flat-head screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver tip at the side of the vent and pry it towards the opposite side. Once the internal pin is released, you can pull it out. For the other central and driver's side vents, you can use the same procedure.
To remove the light switch, press the knob. When it clicks, turn it slightly to the left and then clockwise, as shown in the video. At this point, pull it towards you, disconnect the connector, and remove the entire switch block.
To remove the brightness adjustment, insert the screwdriver at the side to release the clips and pull it out. Press the connector to disconnect it; then, unscrew the visible screws and pull the plastic frame towards you.
To remove the vent frame containing the buttons, located at the centre of the console, unscrew the screws, pull it towards you, and disconnect the connectors. You can now also remove the individual buttons.
