Resetting the Service Light on the Volkswagen

After changing the engine oil on the Volkswagen Golf, you need to reset the system that alerts you to the need for maintenance. While seated in the driver's seat, press the "start" button once. Using the controls on the right side of the steering wheel, press the button to the left of "ok" once, followed by the button to the right. Press the right button again and hold it for five seconds. Once released, scroll down the menu selecting "inspection" and "Oil Service" in sequence, confirming with "ok" in both cases to reset.
