How to Replace the Thermostat on a Volkswagen Golf?

To replace the thermostat on a Volkswagen Golf, open the bonnet to access the components in the engine bay. The plastic cover on top of the engine block must be removed. This will allow you to locate the alternator, which should be taken out of its housing by unscrewing the fixing screws and disconnecting the power cables. Once the alternator is removed, unscrew the bolts securing the water passage pipe underneath. Inside this pipe, you will find the thermostat, which can now be removed and replaced with a new spare part.
