How to Replace the Thermostat of the Volkswagen Golf 5 1.9 TDi?

To replace the thermostat of the Volkswagen Golf 5, open the bonnet and access the engine bay: the thermostat is located between the right side of the engine block and the battery. Therefore, you will need to remove the battery before you can take out the thermostat; once the battery is disconnected and removed from its housing, you can disconnect the thermostat from its connector and replace it with a new spare part. After installing the new thermostat, you can reinstall the previously removed battery.
