In this video, we will see the main instructions for removing and replacing the thermostat on a Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI, fourth generation. First, open the engine bonnet and disconnect the coolant hose to drain all the fluid into a container. Next, simply unscrew the bolts securing the thermostat using a ratchet spanner. Remove the thermostat and replace it with the new one, applying the reverse procedure of disassembly; finally, refill the radiator with coolant.
