How to replace the thermostat on the Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI

Today, we will see in this short and simple guide the step-by-step instructions to remove and replace the thermostat on the Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDI. First, open the bonnet of your car and start disconnecting the coolant pipe, allowing the fluid to drain into a container for about ten minutes. Then remove the intake hose, which will give you access to the thermostat, as shown in the video. At this point, remove the fuel filter and take out the battery to access the thermostat; then remove the alternator and unscrew the screws of the thermostat valve to take it out and replace it with the new one!
