To replace the oil on the Yamaha X-City or X-Max, you need to obtain 1.2 litres of semi-synthetic 10W40 oil, costing around £12.00 per litre. At the bottom of the engine, there is the drain plug (it is advisable to replace it, or at least the washer, to ensure you do not have leaks later). Remove it with a 17 mm spanner. Allow the used oil to drain into a container and then dispose of it at an appropriate recycling centre. After the tank is empty, replace the filter (approximately £3.90 on eBay) and close the drain plug. Now, fill the tank with semi-synthetic oil. Reset the oil warning light: press the "set" and "mode" buttons simultaneously and turn on the ignition. Wait 4-5 seconds and then turn off the ignition. Operation complete.
