Want to replace the gear knob on an Alfa Romeo 147? Here’s how to proceed: Disconnect and unscrew the leather gaiter frame using a plastic lever (if it needs replacing). Take the knob in your hands and rotate it left and right until you remove it from the gear stick (cut the plastic tie). For installation: take the new knob and slide it onto the stick in the centre console, tightening it onto the stick; fit the new leather gaiter with the clips/screws.

Finally, test the movement of the stick in the centre console to ensure the knob is correctly mounted.
