To replace the timing chain on the Audi A6 3.0 TDI, open the hood and access the side of the engine compartment by removing the designated plastic cover. This will allow you to access the sprockets and specifically the tensioner, which needs to be loosened to reduce the tension on the chain.

At this point, the part can be extracted and replaced with a new replacement part. After removal, install a new chain that must be properly tensioned and covered with the designated panel.
