Replacing Cylinder Head Fastening Pins

Model: Audi A6 C5, MK 2 - Years 1997-2004
Part: Engine

When replacing the cylinder head gasket, it is good practice to use a new set of fastening pins for the cylinder head. Start by cleaning the threaded holes to ensure no debris ends up in the cylinders; apply copper grease to the bottom of the thread and just below the head of the pins, then position them in their seats. Tighten them using both a torque wrench and a standard wrench, following a cross-tightening pattern. This ensures proper gasket adherence and prevents deformation.
