Removing the rear suspension spring is fairly simple compared to the front one since the spring and shock absorber are not coaxial, so you don't need special tools to separate them. Raise the vehicle on appropriate jack stands and remove the rear wheel.

Remove the nut that secures the shock absorber to the rear hub support, and before extracting the bolt, place a jack under the suspension to support it during the bolt removal. Once the bolt is out, lower the jack to allow the suspension to drop and release the spring.
