How to Replace the Tensioner in the Engine Bay of an Audi A3

Learn how to replace the tensioner on the Audi A3. You may notice that this part needs replacing because you hear strange squeaking noises from the engine bay. After removing the belt, remove the first upper bolt using a 13 mm spanner. Move the diesel pump. Also, unscrew the lower bolt, again with a 13 mm ratchet spanner. Replace the bearing, which was responsible for the noise, initially tightening by hand, and only later tightening with the spanner. Now you can reposition the tensioner, first replacing the upper bolt, and then the lower one (first by hand and then with the spanner). Now you can reinstall the belt; start from the top and then from the bottom, ensuring it is centred as best as possible.
