How to Remove the Shift Boot and Knob on BMW 3 Series

Do you want to replace the shift knob on your BMW 5 Series? Let's see how to perform the removal: first, grasp the knob with both hands and pull it upward (a strong and decisive motion) until you remove it from the shift lever. Use a plastic trim tool to disconnect the leather boot frame (if you need to replace it). To install the new boot: place the new boot onto the center tunnel, take the new knob and slide it onto the lever, tightening it until it is fully threaded onto the lever. Finally, test the movement of the lever on the center tunnel to ensure the knob is installed correctly.
