Launch control is a function present on some BMW models, particularly high-performance ones like the M series cars, which allows for maximizing acceleration from a standstill. In practice, the system automatically manages traction and engine power to achieve the fastest possible start, avoiding wheel slip. First, let's see how to verify if this function is available on our car, by checking the owner's manual: go to "my car" on the multimedia screen using the central paddle, then select the owner's manual, and search for the keyword: you will find it and have all the instructions. If you have an 8-speed SF gearbox, this function is likely available. Let's see how it works. Press the brake, deactivate traction control (there are various methods), shift the gear lever to "manual", then press the accelerator all the way down until you feel a complete kickdown. It is essential that the car is at operating temperature: it won't work when cold. Also, remember that all these operations must be done in sequence, without pauses.
