How do you replace the hood struts? Let's see how to replace the gas springs mounted inside the hood of a BMW 3 Series. Lift the hood and secure it. Use a screwdriver to detach the metal clips that hold the worn strut at both ends (or remove the mounting bolts).

Install the new strut on the vehicle and secure it with the metal clips/bolts. Repeat the same process for the removal/installation of the other strut.

Finally, test the gas springs previously installed.
