How do you replace the gas lift supports of the rear trunk? Let's see in this video how to replace the parts on a BMW 3 Series. Lift the trunk and secure it with a prop rod; use a screwdriver to detach the metal clips that hold the worn lift support at both ends (or unscrew the retaining pins).

Install the new part on the vehicle and secure the lift support with the metal clips. Follow the same procedure for removing/installing the twin lift support.

Finally, test the installed gas lift supports (open and close the trunk).
