In this video, we can see how to remove the rear seat of a BMW Series 5 E61 touring version: we will start by lifting the lower part of the bench, pulling it out; with the same ease, we remove the two side supports, then we take out the two screws located under the plastic handles situated beneath the backrest. To remove the carpet, we will need to start by taking off the plastic covers that we can see, and the screws we find under the metal handles; underneath, we find a metal bar, behind which we will need to extract the screws that hold the lower part of the backrest in place. This way, we can slide it out and finally see the screws that hold the actual backrest in place. This way, we have also exposed the fixings for the rear seat belts. It is up to us to decide whether to remove them or not.
