How to replace the front brake pads on a BMW 1 Series

Model: BMW Serie 1 E81, E82, MK 1, E87 - Years 2004-2013

To replace the front brake pads on a BMW 1 Series, park the vehicle on a flat surface, loosen the wheel bolts, and safely lift the car. Remove the wheel to access the braking system. Locate the brake caliper and disconnect the wear sensor if present. Remove the springs and caliper retaining pins, then unscrew the necessary support screws and move the caliper without straining the brake line. Extract the old pads and clean the mounting seat thoroughly. Using a special tool, retract the caliper piston to create space for the new pads. Install the new pads in their correct position and reassemble the caliper with all previously removed fastening elements. Reconnect the wear sensor if present, and remount the wheel. Repeat the procedure on the opposite side. Finally, press the brake pedal several times to reposition the pistons and check the correct functioning of the system before using the vehicle.
