Replacement of Factory Speakers

Model: BMW X3 MK 1, E83 - Years 2003-2010

This first part of the video shows how to remove the factory speaker from a BMW X3 on the passenger side. First, lower the window to have more room for the subsequent operations. Start by removing the small cover labeled "airbag" with a plastic spatula. Then loosen the screw located under the cover with a star screwdriver (size 30). Using a plastic spatula, remove the cover of the side handle (it's better to start from the bottom and use your fingers to unclip it). Now three screws will be exposed that need to be removed. Now you can remove the door panel (again using the plastic spatula as a lever to help unclip the anchoring clips). Don't forget to remove the screw (and its plastic cover) located under the armrest! Once the panel is removed, disconnect the connections and with an 8 mm screwdriver, unscrew the airbag. The airbag can be temporarily tied with a zip tie to the door. Once the panel is detached, you can work on it and proceed to remove the speakers. You need to unscrew the bolts around the speaker, then with a metal tip, remove the three clips around the tweeter. Now you can lift both the tweeter and the speaker.
