Replacing Power Steering Fluid and Filter

If the power steering fluid is contaminated, it needs to be replaced. The materials required for the job include a new filter, special fluid, some tools, and a syringe. To prevent fluid from spilling into the alternator, place a pan and some rags under the filter. Open the oil reservoir cap and use the syringe to draw out the fluid, pouring it into the pan. Once all the fluid is removed, close the reservoir and remove the filter by unscrewing the bolts at the base, then remove the two hose clamps to disconnect the two hoses attached to it. Position the pan to catch any fluid from the filter and hoses, and clean up any oil residue. Remove the support bracket from the old filter and attach it to the new one, which should be positioned in its place after reconnecting the hoses. Top off with the appropriate new fluid.
