Replace the Gears of a BMW X3 Transfer Case

Start by disassembling the transfer case motor that transfers part of the torque to all four wheels of the vehicle, located at the end of the transmission. Now let's see how to replace any damaged components. Begin by separating the electric motor and the actuator, which are connected by four Torx screws. Next, remove the retaining clip from the center of the gears, the internal washer, and the front metal plate. At this point, the entire internal gear can be disassembled, and you can separate the gear that meshes with the worm screw, which in turn is housed on the shaft of the electric motor.
