BMW Serie 5 - Video tutorial

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003
Part: Alternator
Operation: Symptoms of alternator malfunction

When an alternator or dynamo (on older car models) does not charge the battery, a red light always turns on, in this case a light with the battery symbol. Now this problem may depend on the breakage of the belt that turns the dynamo or the alternator or on the current generator itself which, while turning, does not produce current due to some internal component that is not working. In this situation, even a previously checked battery can run out as the electrical system consumes energy which, however, is not restored by the alternator which does not charge. Gradually, you will then see the lights fade and the warning lights on the instrument panel flickering. Leaving the key removed and turning it after a few minutes you may also see all the lights on again because the battery still retains some of its charge. A check that you can do is to leave the car in motion by disconnecting the negative cable (with the - sign) from the battery. If the car turns off it means that the problem is the alternator, if it stays in motion it means that the alternator is fine.

Where are the fuses of the Volvo FH located?

All the fuses of the Volvo FH are located inside the fuse box located in the vehicle cabin: in order to access the box it will be necessary to unhook the internal fixing clips that block the panel in the upper part of the dashboard, along its entire length. extension. Once this panel has been removed, it will be possible to access the fuses and replace them if necessary: here it will be possible to identify the fuses that take care of the operation of the windshield wipers, the cigarette lighter, the headlights, etc. In the vehicle manual each fuse is indicated with its amperage.
