Replacing Grilles on BMW 1 Series

Model: BMW Serie 1 MK 2, F20, F21 - Years 2011-2019

Open the bonnet and insert the support rod. Remove all four bolts and detach the clips securing the front bumper at the top. Gently pull the front bumper outward, first from one side and then the other. There is no need to remove the bumper completely; just move it enough to create the necessary workspace for grille removal. Now, using a plastic wedge, pry around the grilles until you can extract them from their housing. Also push from behind (from the bonnet side) with your other hand.
