In this video, see how to easily remove the air vent grille of the BMW 1 Series version E81/E87: all you will need is a flat screwdriver, which you will place in the centre of the driver's side lateral grille, prying it out and it will come off with ease, being made in one piece.

This also makes it very difficult to break: do the same on the passenger side, which is constructed in the same way. For the central grille, do not place the screwdriver underneath the grille, but on top, still in the centre, and pry from the upper side.

This is also made in one piece, but there are electrical connectors to disconnect, which you must be careful with before pulling the grille away. For reassembly, simply slot the grilles back into place, remembering that the central one has an electrical connector that must be reconnected first.
