Installing the Engine Air Filter

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003
Part: Air filter

The function of the engine air filter is to protect the engine by trapping impurities from the airflow. The air filter is enclosed in a sealed housing made airtight by a rubber edge contact. The air filter should be changed regularly to prevent clogging and blocking airflow to the engine. Once you locate its position within the vehicle, open the housing of the used filter, remove it, and clean the bottom of the housing from any debris with a vacuum or a damp cloth. After that, you can proceed to install the new filter you purchased.
