Replacing the Auxiliary Belt Tensioner Pulley

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003

The auxiliary belt tensioner pulley is the plastic one located roughly in the center of the pulley cascade. Before proceeding with the removal, it is advisable to note the routing of the belt around the various pulleys. At this point, loosen the tensioner and move the belt off the corresponding pulley; then loosen the mounting bolt of the pulley itself and replace it with the new one (you will notice wear on the central bearing of the old pulley). Before repositioning the belt and applying tension, check its condition for wear and consider replacing it if necessary.
