When replacing the head gasket, it is good practice to also replace the valve guide seals: use the appropriate arch clamp to compress the return spring and remove the retaining caps from the stem to the retainer, then remove the retainer and spring and pull out the valve; use the extractor to remove the seal and insert the new one after lubricating it; also lubricate the valve stem before repositioning it in its seat and proceed in reverse for the spring installation.

During this operation, consider the possibility of grinding the valve seats.
