In this tutorial, we can see how to unlock the automatic transmission in the BMW 5 Series, an emergency operation to perform if, for example, the battery is dead. First, go inside the cabin, then using a flathead screwdriver, unlock the cover at the base of the gear lever, remove it, and locate the hole on the left. At this point, insert the screwdriver into the hole and push it down until the lever is in the neutral position. The car is now free to be moved as needed.
