When you pull the lever of the internal door handle, it opens the lock through a cable connected to the lever itself: the cable may detach from the handle or break. To check the integrity of the connection and the cable itself, you need to remove the handle and possibly the panel; in any case, inside the handle housing, there is a screw securing the outer trim that must be removed; once the screw is taken out, slide the handle forward and then pull it out away from its housing.

At this point, you can see the cable connection with the handle and the cable itself.
