Installing electric coolant circulation pumps is a growing trend in the automotive industry: the goal is to eliminate more power take-offs from the engine to improve performance and fuel efficiency. This is a standard centrifugal pump, but instead of being driven by a belt through a pulley, it is powered by an electric motor. Once you disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses, the power supply, and remove the mounting pins, you can place the pump on a workbench and proceed with disassembly. Remove the screws securing the rear cover, under which the electronic components are located; then separate the drive part of the pump from the pump itself, making sure to remove all screws first.
