Let's see how to replace the shell of a BMW car key: we can find the piece of interest on e-Bay for 5.99 euros (+2.60 euros for transport costs). Now let's disassemble the old body. First we remove the physical key. Then we have to cut the old key with a cutter. We remove the CPU and if necessary we also change the battery, which is a normal CR2032 that we can find for a few euros at a tobacconist or any supermarket. Pay attention to the polarity during assembly. We put the CPU in the new body with its battery, put the cap back and the physical key. With the shell of the key also comes a virgin physical key: if you want you can have it duplicated.
