Testing Instrument Cluster Replacement

This video aims to provide a simple demonstration of what could happen when replacing your original instrument cluster with an identical one from another vehicle, rather than teaching you the work phases for disassembling the instrument cluster. From the initial sequences, you can see the original instrument cluster with the correct mileage and the only two warning lights on, which relate to components that have been removed beforehand. Now disconnect the connectors at the back by pressing the tab to release the retaining ring. Connect the other instrument cluster and turn off and then restart the engine. As you can observe, the mileage has changed because it refers to the car it was installed in. Additionally, the brake light has turned on (which goes from yellow to red when you pull the handbrake) and the traction control light has also illuminated. The only solution for this issue is to reset the cluster by a specialized technician. Car model: BMW E46 Series 3 Year: 2001
