Removing Passenger Seat Airbag Sensor

Model: BMW Serie 7 MK 3, E38 - Years 1994-2001

The passenger side seat is equipped with a sensor that detects the presence of a passenger sitting in it and activates the corresponding airbag in the event of a collision (if no one is sitting in the passenger seat, there is no need to deploy this airbag during an impact). The sensor is located just under the seat, near the backrest: to remove it, it is easier to take out the seat by unscrewing the four mounting bolts and disconnecting the connector underneath. Once you have removed the seat from the cabin, straighten the metal tabs that secure the leather cover of the seat to access the sensor and detach it by turning it clockwise, then disconnect the respective connectors.
