Brake Pedal Switch Repair

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003
Part: Checks and maintenance

If the brake lights do not turn on when pressing the brake pedal, there may be a fault with the pedal switch located near the lever. To access the switch, first remove the plastic protective cover located just under the dashboard, near the pedal assembly: once the cover is removed, it is easy to disconnect the connector and the switch itself. You will notice a plastic bushing that serves as a guide and stop for the button rod, which needs to be replaced.
