Removing the Front Hood Lock

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003
Part: Body

The front hood of the car model in question is equipped with two locking mechanisms located at the front of the grille. To begin the removal process, disconnect the release cable: along the edge of the left front fender, at the location of the engine oil filter, there is a plastic housing where the lock cables connect to the release lever. Disconnect the two cables and proceed to remove the grille covering by removing the push fasteners and the corresponding mounting pins. At this point, you can free the lock cables and unscrew the mounting pins of the locks themselves to complete the removal.
