Oil Change and Filter Replacement

Model: BMW Serie 5 E34 - Years 1988-1995

If you own a BMW 5 Series, you can change the oil and replace the filter without going to a mechanic. Loosen and unscrew the bolt that serves as the drain plug for the oil pan located under the vehicle. Collect the oil in a disposal container. Clean the plug and reinstall it as before. Using a small hex wrench, unscrew the pin that secures the filter cap and remove the old filter; compare it with the new one. Replace the three worn rubber seals with new ones (included with the new filter). To assist with this replacement, use a metal hook. Lubricate the new seals with a bit of oil. Position the filter and its cap as before. Now remove the cap on the plastic cover that protects the engine. Place a funnel and fill the pan with new oil, checking the level with the dipstick.
