It is well known that choosing a car with a timing chain offers several advantages, especially in terms of reliability and maintenance: there is no scheduled replacement for the chain, and with regular oil changes, perhaps a bit earlier than the long-life schedule, you can indeed cover hundreds of thousands of miles. However, on newer models from the Bavarian manufacturer, several failures related to the timing chain have been reported, ranging from simple noise to breakage with serious consequences; essentially, the chain tends to stretch, causing it to hit the sliding guides, generating noise and potentially leading to failure.

To carry out this operation, you will need to release the bonnet from the appropriate lever to lift it and secure it with the prop rod. Disconnect the battery terminals to protect any more delicate circuits, then proceed to unscrew all the bolts securing the bumper and the headlights themselves, as there are additional bolts behind the bumper to remove. Disconnect the connectors at the back of each headlight to extract it, and in this way, you can install the new headlight. Reverse the steps described for reassembling the various components.
