Today, you will learn how to disassemble and replace the timing chain on a BMW 5 Series. We will focus on the main steps. First, open and lift the hood. Remove the upper plastic engine cover and take out the entire fuel injection system by disconnecting any electrical connectors and removing the fuel injectors. At this point, remove the cover to access the camshafts and then the timing chain. Remove the dowel pins to take out the camshafts, and then disassemble the timing chain.
