How do you adjust the handbrake of the BMW 1 Series?

The handbrake adjustment on the BMW 1 Series is done by lifting the leather boot that surrounds the handbrake lever, so that you can access all the parts underneath. Here you will find a screw that is connected to a cable, which in turn is connected to the handbrake lever: by adjusting this screw you can modify the hardness of the handbrake itself. By tightening the screw, the lever will become harder, conversely, when the screw is loosened, the handbrake lever will become softer. After the adjustment is done, you will need to reposition the lever covering.
