How to spray paint the Citroen Berlingo in a DIY way.

On the Citroen Berlingo, the success of the spray painting depends on the preparation of the surface and environmental control. Take the vehicle to a clean and ventilated area, wash and degrease the panels, then dull the surfaces with appropriate abrasives until the gloss disappears evenly, eliminating old imperfections.

Where the metal is bare, apply primer and allow it to dry; fill and sand if there are deep scratches, then finish with fine grits to achieve a smooth base. Carefully mask edges, seals, handles, and areas to be protected, ensuring there are no gaps where overspray can pass through.

Prepare the base color in the indicated proportions, adjust the HVLP gun for an even spray pattern, and test on a piece of cardboard. On the Citroen Berlingo, apply the base in light, cross-coats, maintaining a constant distance and a 70-75% overlap; allow flash-off between coats until the surface loses its wet appearance.

When the coverage is uniform, prepare the 2K clear coat, filter the mixture, and apply two full coats using the same technique, checking for the risk of runs on vertical profiles. During drying, avoid drafts and dust; if available, use IR lamps to accelerate the process.

Once cured, smooth any dust particles with fine wet sandpaper and polish with a pad and compound until the gloss is restored. Remove the masking, clean up any residues, and check that the color of the Citroen Berlingo is consistent with the adjacent panels.

For a lasting result, do not wash with rollers or aggressive waxes in the first few days and allow the clear coat to fully cure.
