Replacing the Timing Belt on a Dacia Sandero

The timing belt synchronises the operation of the crankshaft with the camshaft (which controls the movement of the valves and pistons) and, in some cases, also the operation of the water pump, which cools the engine. The belt is made from a plastic material that is sufficiently elastic and durable to withstand continuous external stresses. It is constantly under tension and subjected to sometimes very abrupt temperature changes. Its failure can cause severe damage to the engine, such as breaking the pistons, valves, or the crankshaft itself. Therefore, it is advisable to strictly follow the manufacturer's guidelines regarding replacement timing.
