How to change the battery and the shell of the FIAT key

For a Fiat key, the replacement of the battery and the shell should be done on a clean surface with good lighting to avoid losing small components. Before opening the casing, prepare the new battery, which should be identical to the old one: the correct reference is the code printed on the old battery to avoid incompatibility. If you also need to replace the shell, make sure that the replacement is specific to your key, with the same buttons and the same slot for the blade/mechanical key.

To open the remote, locate the joint of the shell and the lever notch. Apply gradual pressure with a suitable tool, without making sharp twists, until the two halves separate. With the shell open, observe how the circuit board, buttons, and battery are positioned: gently remove the battery, remembering the orientation (positive and negative sides) to correctly insert the new one without bending the contacts. If you are installing a new shell, transfer all the internal components from the original key to the new casing, paying particular attention to the immobilizer/transponder element (if present): it must remain with the key, otherwise, the car may not recognize it.

Reinsert the circuit board in place, properly reposition the rubber pads of the buttons, and insert the new battery in the same orientation as the previous one. Close the shell by aligning the clips until they snap into place and check that there are no gaps. At the end of the process, test the remote controls and ensure that the key is stable and securely closed. If any button feels stiff or does not return, reopen the key and realign the buttons and circuit board before forcing the closure.
