How to change the air filter in the Fiat Punto

To replace the engine air filter on the Fiat Punto, work with the engine cold and the car on level ground. Open the hood from the cabin and secure it. In the engine compartment, locate the air filter box, recognizable as a plastic container connected to the intake hose via a clamp or fitting. Before opening the box, check how it is secured: depending on the configuration, it may have screws, clips, or a cover with latches. Loosen the necessary fasteners and, if needed, free the intake hose fitting just enough to create space, avoiding pulling on nearby wiring. Lift the box cover and remove the old air filter by pulling it out straight, without pushing dirt toward the duct. Insert the new filter in the same direction as the previous one, ensuring that the perimeter frame fits correctly to avoid unfiltered air passages. Close the box cover and restore all fasteners, then tighten the clamp or connection of the intake hose securely. Finally, check that the cover is properly seated along the entire edge and that there are no gaps at the intake fitting; start the engine and check for any unusual noises in the intake.
