Replacing the Crankshaft RPM Sensor

Model: Fiat Punto MK 2, 188 - Years 1999-2011

If there are issues with power steering and the speedometer, one possible fault may lie in the sensor that transmits the engine RPM to the control unit. Locate the sensor position on the engine block. The sensor is connected to the control unit via a cable that must be disconnected from the sensor by acting on the two side springs of the connector. Once the sensor is freed, use a spanner to remove it by acting on the fixing screw; perform this operation with utmost care. Install the new sensor, ensuring to apply some thread-locking fluid on the fixing screw to prevent it from loosening due to vibrations. Reconnect the connector carefully and check for proper operation.
