Steering Column Disassembly Instructions

Model: Fiat Punto MK 1, 176 - Years 1993-1999

When disassembling the steering column, start with the fixing pin of the universal joint at the rack: turn the steering wheel to insert the key into the head of the pin, unscrew it and slide it out, realign the steering wheel with the wheels straight, remove the universal joint from the rack and continue disassembly; remove the steering wheel cap, disconnect the horn wires and unscrew the fixing nut of the steering wheel to slide it off the column shaft; remove the plastic covers around the indicator controls, disconnect the wiring connectors to free it, and it is advisable to slide out the indicator by loosening the clamp pin before completing the disassembly of the column by unscrewing the nuts fixing it to the vehicle frame.
