Replacing the Timing Belt on the Fiat Punto 1.2 8v

To replace the timing belt, proceed as follows: lift the car and remove the lower covers, loosen the tensioner for the auxiliary belt and remove it. Unscrew the bolts securing the lower pulley and take it off. Then, remove the timing belt protection cover. Lower the car to remove the engine mount from above the engine bay. Next, remove the rear timing belt cover and mark the relative position between the teeth of the upper and lower pulleys and the engine itself with a marker. Loosen the nut on the tensioner and remove the pulley. Proceed to remove the water pump and, if necessary, replace it. Take the new belt and position it. Refit the tensioner pulley and tighten it to apply tension to the belt. After that, reassemble all components in reverse order.
