What to do if your Fiat's windscreen wiper is broken

If the windscreen wiper on your Fiat has broken and remains stuck on the windscreen in a horizontal position, the problem is almost certainly the arm that has come off its mount. You can check this by opening the bonnet and looking under the grille at the end of the front windscreen. Under the grille, there is the wiper mechanism, and you will almost certainly find that the two pieces have separated due to the drying out of the plastics. A good lubrication with silicone grease (a tube costs a few pounds at any hardware store) will suffice, and then simply rejoin the two halves of the mechanism, which will start working again.
