If you need a duplicate of the vehicle's ignition key, you must consult a specialist who can not only create the mechanical key cut but also programme the key itself. Essentially, this involves storing the code that allows the vehicle to start (immobiliser) within the new key. This operation can sometimes be done at a bench by reading the code from the original key and then writing it into the new one, obviously with the help of appropriate equipment. In some cases, it is necessary to read the code directly from the engine management unit via the diagnostic port.
