How to Charge a Fiat 500 Using a Domestic Socket

This video shows how to charge a Fiat 500e using a domestic socket: it is essential that the domestic system is earthed, ensuring safe charging for both the system and people. Additionally, do not use extension leads or adapters, only the "mode 2" charging cable with a specific charging connector and the connector for the domestic socket.

For a standard 3 kW supply, a full charge of a 42 kW battery takes about 15 hours from empty. It is advised not to let the charge drop too low, but to charge frequently.

On the charger control unit, the green LED indicates normal operation, the red LED signals a cable fault, and the yellow LED indicates a fault with the domestic electrical system. Always connect the electric plug to the socket first, then the plug to the vehicle, which has various coloured LEDs that flash to provide information on the charging status.

The green LEDs indicate the percentage of battery charge. If you are using a scheduled charge, set a start and end time; until this time is reached, blue LEDs will flash to indicate waiting for charging.

Charging is complete when all green LEDs are lit steadily. If there are any faults, the first and last LED will flash red. To conclude the charging, unlock the doors, press the button near the socket, hear the unlocking sound, and then remove the socket.
