Use a flathead screwdriver or the tip of a knife to lift the part where the gear positions are indicated. This way, you can unscrew the bolt that was covered by the round panel. Now you can lift the gear knob and, if necessary, also remove the leather gaiter by extracting the entire base of the gear lever. Then, retrace the steps described in reverse for reassembly.
